8th August 2010 – Round 16 Banyule vs Bundoora White Goals: Jacob 4, Coxy 2, Darcy 2, Ryan 1 and Taz 1 Awards winners: EVERY BOY AS THE SMILES ON YOUR FACES SAY a MILLION WORDS Unfortunately the season has come to an end for the Tackers. The sun was out and it was such a contrast to the previous Sunday conditions.
Again all the boys were magnificent on Sunday with the team skills they have learnt throughout this season shining through. Some of the Tackers White boys will progress to U/10’s next season and I have no doubt they will hold their own and have nothing to fear. Also to the boys who still will be playing Tackers they will have a great season ahead of them. I can not single out any individual player as this whole season has been a great team effort every Sunday. As I said in the rooms after the game on Sunday, thanks to Kelli, Wayne, Stuart and all the parents for making this season so enjoyable, and the boys attitude and ability to help each other and work together is a credit to themselves and to you as parents. Go Bulls!
1st August 2010 – Round 15 Bundoora White vs Banyule Goals: Ryan 2, Coxy, Byron, Jacob and Riley. Awards: Hassan, Riley, Davo, JJ, Taz Pennant: Blake & Josh.
Last Sunday we played Banyule at home and as you all could see, it was wet and cold. I felt the boys were a bit stunned by the conditions and were 2nd to the ball. However, after a half time break in front of the heater, we played the best quarter of football for the season. Players were running, handpassing, kicking to a lead, shepherding and it was a credit to the boys. At ¾ time it was great to see all the boys smiling and bouncing around and all the supporters clapping and yelling encouragement, it was the best! The final ¼ again was great footy by all our boys.
I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching Tackers White this season. To see how the boys who have been playing for the last couple of seasons, as well as the newer players, have improved from the start of the season both at individual skills and also more importantly how they now really do play like a team. Players are not afraid to use their opposite side during a game, overhead marks being held, tackling and shepherding for each other. Looking sideways and playing up the guts, all these tasks now come naturally during our game. Wayne, the parents, supporters and I are very proud of this group of players and I am sure they all will go onto and play very good football.
Thank you to Wayne my assistant coach and Kelli my team manager for their timeless commitment they showed during the season on both match day and training nights. Without your efforts, I’m sure the boys would not have had such an enjoyable season. Thanks.
Thanks to Stuart for Umpiring. Stuart’s encouragement and the way he explained his decisions to the boys was first class, and he received good acknowledgement from other coaches.
Thank you to all the parents and supporters for your help as Goal Umpires, Timekeepers, assisting on the ground and general praise to all the boys throughout the year.
The most important thanks must go to the wonderful boys, their listening and willingness to improve is a credit to them. They all have fantastic natures and will make great friends throughout the footy careers.
Go Bulls!!
25th July 2010 – Round 14 Tackers White vs Tackers Blue Goals: Coxy 2, Ryan Davo, Shawy, Darcy, and JJ Pemnant Award: Thomas Other Awards: Ryan, Coxy, Bradley, Shawy, and Jarryd. WELL DONE boys on a game of footy where you all played well and look to help and support each other. The kicking to a lead and marking was very good. When you were played in different positions during the match you played that position very well. It is great to see that whoever is playing in the back line, stay in position and man up. Great to see one of this season’s goals was achieved today when JJ kicked that goal after a great mark, and then to see so many boys run to congratulate him. That’s what being a team all is about. Great Captain’s game by Thomas and Blakey Go Bulls!!
18th July 2010 – Round 13 Bundoora White v Heidelberg B (This round report by: Wayne Bygate – Coach for the day) Pennant Winners: Ben and Daniel Awards: Josh, Blake, JJ, CJ, Byron, and Jacob Today we came up against a much taller Heidelberg team in very windy conditions. We tried hard all day but found it difficult to follow the ball due to the wind. Josh played brilliantly in the back line getting in and under the packs. Jacob played really well in the ruck tapping the ball down to his team mates. We again laid some great tackles and continued to shepherd well. Darcy, Ryan, Taz, Davo, and Stefan ran hard all day. Boys I am very proud to have coached you for the first time and watch how well you played in a very physical game. Thanks to Gavin W for umpiring and our helpers on the day, Jason, Taylor, Jezz, and Sam. Go Bulls!!
11th July 2010 – Round 12 Ivanhoe vs Bundoora W Goals: Darcy 2 Pennant winners: Jacob and Stef Award winners: Hussan, Riley, Blake, Taz, and Darcy Today we played against Ivanhoe at their ground which I think would be close to the same size as the MCG. The boys played well again today with marking and chasing, a strong part of today's game against a side who probably have a lot of their players going up next season. Our 2 goals were kicked in the first quarter by Darcy, one of which rolled along the ground for some distance and the other from a great shepherd by Shawy. Great game played by Taz, Hussain, Jarryd, Stef, Thomas, JJ, Darcy, Ryan, and Ben. The boys lined up for Riley’s 50th game banner and were happy to follow him through the banner. Congratulations to Hussain for winning Ivanhoe’s medal and to Riley for reaching the 50 game milestone. Go Bulls!!
27th June 2010 – Round 11 Bundoora vs St. Marys B Goals: Darcy 3, Ryan 2, Davo 1, Jacob 1 Pennant winners: Bradley and JJ Other Awards winners: Jacob, Coxy Stef, Byron, Daniel, Josh, Keanu Today we played against St Mary’s B at home. The game was scrappy for most of the match but when we could open it up the play was great to watch. Again the shepherding and looking for each other was fantastic. It is great to see the boys following instructions by staying in position and only one going into the pack and knocking the ball free.As I mentioned, staying in your position is vital and Thomas, Josh, Keanu, and Daniel did this perfectly today.A much improved performance by Bradley today who got at least 5 possessions in the first half, well done Bradley. Thanks to Stuart for umpiring again today. Go Bulls!!
20th June 2010 – Round 10 Bundoora vs St Damians Pennant winners: Davo & Hussan Award winners: Ryan, JJ, Shawy, Thomas, Ben The boys had immense fun playing in the wet, cold, and muddy conditions against St Damians. It was hard for our boys to get their free flowing game going today mainly because St Damians played with 4 or 5 extra players, which allowed them to congest the stoppages. To the credit of our players, they didn’t get frustrated and just went back to basic stop start football with big kicks to the direction of play that we wanted “DOWN THE GUTS”.Ryan was our only goal scorer today, but Jacob, Darcy and Coxy also had shots at goal. Go Bulls!!
6th June 2010 – Round 9 Bundoora vs Banyule Goals: Darcy 2, Steph On a wet and slippery Sunday morning, we played Banyule at home. Being the first time we had played in these conditions for a while, the boys seemed to start a bit slow, but as the conditions improved, so did the boy’s skill level. It is great to see the new and younger boys playing well like Daniel, Blake, and Bradley. Our aim for the second half was to get Blake to kick a goal. All the boys purposefully looked for Blake and helped him out. Early in the third quarter, Hassan ran down the flank, kicked the ball to Blake, followed his kick downfield, helped Blake get the ball with a handpass, placed a shepherd and Blake had a shot at goal. Again, in the final quarter, Blake had a set shot at goal only to be marked on the goal line. In my view, this was one of the best halves of team football our boys have played all year. It was a great game by all the boys! Go Bulls!!
30th May 2010 – Round 8 Preston Bullants vs Bundoora Pennant: Tarwin Awards: Davo, Ryan, Blakey. This was another tough game against Preston Bullants. It seems to be the way when we play each other. Our boys should be proud of the way they conducted themselves and their standard of play today. Their handpassing and team work was especially outstanding for at least the first three quarters. It is difficult to rotate boys on and off the bench, so I hope they all felt they had a fair go. As mentioned before, highlights of today's game was our handpassing, shepherding and general team work. Great performances by Darcy, Ryan, Daniel, Keanu, JJ, Blakey tried hard all day, Riley, Taz, Hussein, Shawy and this pretty much shows how much of a team effort it was today. Well done boys and let's keep up the hard work. Next week we play Banyule at Telfer Reserve. Go Bulls!!
23rd May 2010 – Round 7 Heidelberg vs Bundoora Goals: Coxy 2, Stef, Darcy, Ryan Award Winners: CJ (Pennant), Josh, Byron and Keanu. On a cold but sunny May morning, we ventured to Heidelberg. Our boys played with 18 in the first half and 17 in the second half, while Heidelberg had 20 on the field all day. It just goes to show that when we play as a TEAM, it doesn’t matter how many the opposition play with, our players will still get a kick and mark. It’s great to hear the parents & supporters say how well the boys use the team skills they have, and today people were praising the boys on their shepherding. Great talking by Coxy, great attack on the ball by CJ and Shawy in the last quarter. Darcy and Ryan ran hard and fast all day and deserved their rest in the last quarter.Well done today boys! Go Bulls!!
16th May 2010 – Round 6 Tackers Blue – Round Robin Goals: Coxy, Hussain, Davo, & Stef Tacker’s Day today was enjoyed by all the players who were very happy to receive their new football at the end of the day.We played all the players who had not had a lot of the games on the ball to date in the centre, ruck, rover, and ruck rover. These boys, Blake, Bradley, Daniel, JJ and the wingers: Blake and Josh tried hard all day and at some time of the day were in amongst the play. Well Done. The boys showed how well they can team together and get goals during all 4 matches. Great running and skills were shown by Darcy & Ryan all day. Thanks to all the supporters for staying until the end. A big thanks to Kellie and all the mums who had plenty of food & drinks for all the boys. Well Done Boys and again, thanks to all the supporters & parents. Go Bulls!!
9th May 2010 – Round 5 St Marys vs Bundoora Goals: CJ 1, Riley 1 Awards: Ryan (Pennant), Riley, Davo, Stefan, & CJ Today we ventured to St Mary’s for an 8.45 start. St Mary’s had 22 players so after evening up to 20 players each the game started well. Our boys were keen and played well early. The game became very congested as a lot of players were around the ball. In the second half, especially in the final quarter, our boys began to help get the ball better with shepherds and plenty of talk. This opened the game up and it was very noticeable how better our team played with plenty of running and playing on. Our first goal was scored by CJ and then Riley scored our second for the day in the third quarter. Great improvement was shown by Byron who took a mark and had another kick in general play. Todays captain Ryan who played outstanding all day, as did Taz, Darcy, & Davo’s tackling was again a feature.Well Done Boys. Go Bulls!!
2nd May 2010 – Round 4 Tackers White v Macleod Goals: Stef & Byron Awards: Byron (pennant) Taz (NRG) Today's captain: Taz Our first early start for the season, 8:45 am. We had 3 new players today, Tom, Blake & Bradley; this now lifts our player numbers to 18.The Macleod boys were the tallest and fastest team we have played this season so far. Our boys played well again today after a slow start. The second half saw a lot more shepherding, playing on, hand passing, and generally looking for each other. There was no one player that stood out for our team as they all played well when the opportunity came their way. All the new boys tried hard and will improve as they get to know the other players and have the experience of a few games. Probably the highlight of the season to date was Byron Finney kicking his first goal and seeing how proud both his parents were and the number of players who ran to congratulate him after he kicked the goal. Great team spirit by all the boys.Well done team! Go Bulls!!
25th April 2010 – Round 3 Banyule B vs Bundoora W Goals: CJ 2, Riley 2, Jacob, Coxy, Taz, Stef, and Darcy. Awards: Jacob, JJ, and Darcy Well done boys on another fantastic team effort. It is very pleasing to see all the players linking with each other, playing on, and shepherding.Banyule were great in lending one player to us each quarter. As I said after the game, all our parents and supporters are very proud of the style of game you are all playing. Today's captain was JJ and he led the team very well. It was very pleasing to see some new goal kickers today. Another tough game by Davo who laid 4 or 5 tackles just in the last quarter WELL DONE BOYS!! Go Bulls!!
18th April 2010 – Round 2 Bundoora vs Banyule Goals: Darcy 5, Ryan 3, Riley 3, Taz 2, Ben 2, Stef, Davo & Coxy 1 Awards: Shawy, Darcy, and Daniel All day the players showed what has been our main direction to play like a team, “playing for each other with each other”. This can not be achieved without shepherds, handball and talking to each other. Tackers White played at home again today, but this time we were the home TEAM. We played Banyule Y, who were a young team. All the boys played fantastic. We started with 3 of the boys who did not get a run on the ball last week being Byron, CJ & JJ. These boys played the first half on the ball in warm conditions. They ran and got plenty of the ball with CJ leading the way by obeying instructions and not going into the forward 40. JJ, Jacob, and Byron were quick to follow, which meant our forward line was nice and open of Bundoora players. At the half time break we swapped these 3 with Daniel, Davo & Coxy. The play just got better. These boys, along with Shawy & Jacob doing the ruck work, always got first use of the ball to move it long into our forward line.We had 14 players today. Banyule Y willingly lent us 2 players for the first half which meant both teams had 16 a side, and the second half we just played with our 14 boys. I mentioned to our players at half time that we will have 14 and Banyule Y will have 17, and our boys lifted their work rate and fantastic team work. All the parents and supporters should be very proud of how ALL the boys teamed together today. I am so proud of how the boys who have been playing together for the last 2 – 3 seasons and have welcomed, helped, and made the new boys (Ben, Jacob, Daniel, Stef, and Hassan) feel such a part of this TEAM. Thanks to our helpers today – Paul (timekeeper), Wayne (assist coach), Kellie (team mgr) and Sam (On ground positional coach Well done to all the boys! Go Bulls!!

These boys all showed how good they can play and listen to instructions. Thanks to our helpers Jeremy, Wayne, and Tania. A special thanks to Kellie Watt who is our new Team Manager for this season.
